Charleston Hospitality Group founder starts new scholarship program

A new “Sam Mustafa Charleston Scholarship Program” has been launched to help some students going to college.

The scholarship is named after Sam Mustafa, CEO and founder of Charleston Hospitality Group (CHG), one of the largest restaurant and entertainment groups in the area. Mustafa was born in Jordan, studied Engineering at Southern Illinois University and his first job out of college was a push cart where he sold stuffed pitas.

“Much like a puzzle, every idea starts with a dream which you turn into a vision that you fulfill piece by piece. For me, my undergraduate degree led me to casually develop an interest in the food service and hospitality industries,” said Mustafa in a statement. “The ‘Sam Mustafa Charleston Scholarship Program’ is a way for me to give back to the community.”

The group plans to award 10 scholarships of $5,000 each to the recipients.
